2001 WS Gm4: Lee Greenwood sings "God Bless the USA"

My Dad - in Germany WWll
PFC Bruce J. Stokes

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

United States of America
United?
What happened?
This morning I was thinking about the fact that this country I love and am so proud of is not the same country I woke up in today.
I have been wondering how we got here.
We don't seem to be "united" anymore. We are more "divided" than ever! Now we're blue and red states instead of the United States.
The ones we elected to run the government can't work together.
The Senate will not work with a president who belongs to the "other" side and so anything the House passes will face gridlock...again! Only a good president is the leader of the whole country and all of the people, not just the ones who live in the states his party shares in color.

We're living with a farce of a president who never was fit for the responsibilities that go along with being POTUS.
We need new legislation before one can even run for president! How about at least taking some tests? A test that proves you know how legislation works; a test to know world geography and know what the hell is going on in it and who the world leaders are and what they stand for; take an oath that states "you're out" as soon as you no longer abide by the Constitution! Know and stand by and for our allies and for God sake, know the difference between our allies and our adversaries!

"United we stand - Divided we fall"
What is the cure if we remain divides and stay red & blue and can't live with and get along with each other? Do we form two countries - one red and one blue? Have our own rules and laws? Do we split the two sides by geography - blue states have the east and west coasts and some northern states and red states keep the center and south from FL to TX? What does that mean? Republicans in blue majority states move into red states and vice versa? What about our monuments and our federal buildings - people on both sides will only fight for ownership. So is the theory of another civil war on the horizon?

What's the way out?
I have thought of moving out of this country I hardly recognize anymore. I have looked at places in Mexico and Canada, but at our age, covid19 might make the decision for us and we'll just spend what time we have left where we are and cry every day for the country we're losing - the one I was born and raised in and lived as a proud American my whole life.

How half the country is so stupid baffles my mind!
To elect a celebrity, a lame business man, a criminal who when out of office will be held responsible for his tax issues! One who cares only for himself - not for the American people for whom he was elected to serve and protect. It makes me sick every time he's shown saluting our troops. He doesn't know what it means to "serve our country."

So we have mostly good memories of our America when the whole of America worked together and believed in the same values.

Heaven Sent Ad - Suddenly | Once Upon a Time in Hollywood OST [HQ]

When one thing leads to another...and another...and another...then you act on on it!  :)
How a movie and a song can lead to action!
(no pun intended)

I LOVE this movie!
I watch it every time I find it on STARZ!
I especially LOVE the scenes with Hippie Girl!
The 2nd time Cliff saw Hippie Girl, the song/ad for "Heaven Sent" perfume was playing!
I LOVE that song and used to wear that perfume back in the day!  :)
I ordered a bottle of "Heaven Sent" yesterday!
Synchronicity, and how one thing leads to another!

One Thing I Don't Do

~ One of my special journals ~
You know how you feel as you live day-to-day and year-to-year searching for that place where you belong and are working at what you like. It can take a lifetime to really get it! To not care what people think of you because in the end you know you need to stay away from the gossip and be the observer. You can tell when so many know if they support you and your creativity or what they see as success would be empowering you, and that's not what most people want to do. They feel they're losing their own power. I had a friend out west who treated me that way. Looking back, I see it has been that way with locals, too, the last two decades with my art and gift shop. God forbid they come in and even look around...and so now...pft...I could care less. Little jealous people.

The first thing I did was sign my name as sole ownership and drew my "self portrait"  as I would be the most comfortable being. :)
If you knew me you would know I was generous to a fault with my friends and sometimes for those who didn't really know me. You also then know the ones who aren't jealous of what I've done or accomplished because they would stop by and visit and call when in town. But family - they are the worst! I have seen it all and treated badly by the ones I have treated the best. So I don't try to fit in with groups or family or old friends who don't want to hear from me or see me. I am so comfortable alone that I don't "go first" at anything anymore. People I entertained and cooked for when we lived in other states that live back here...back home...right. You think we ever got an invitation?  Hahaha...sad and hurtful at the beginning. Now after 3 decades living in the same house in our home state, people are not invited and I don't entertain and cook for people anymore. Now I am in the years of " the crone" and spend my life feeding animals and painting and cooking for my husband. I did what was expected of me and now I'm done with that. I don't chase anyone anymore. I don't try to repair friendships anymore...I know I'm not welcome and so I enjoy my own company and especially enjoy not going along with the crowd. Now when I'm left out of projects where my resources could be of benefit, I don't care and don't call to be a part because someone tells me to contact a person who wants an old picture of my great grandfather for his documentary that he's been working on for 7 years!! Yup...that long. So I knew this felt off.  Why would I contact someone who has known me for decades, whose mother I went to school with, when he could have contacted me in the last 7 years had he wanted my contribution for his current craft project as a film maker? Am I crazy...I think not. I will not seek out anyone because they are "successful" and who knows how to contact me.  Around these parts, if you do something where you have a large following, are good at what you do, well known, then they think they are better than the rest of us that they have known for so long but are not worthy of their coming to you!
~ Crone Nancy - Self Portrait ~

I could go on and on and on with examples of what people do and how they act toward me but I won't. So I go first at...not chasing...not going first. Life is tough enough, especially now with the world coming to an end as we know it. I am doing things that make me feel good. Animals and spirituality are my priorities. I communicate with the few people that like me for me, and have my sacred and creative life and join virtually with the ones I have things in common with and who I feel comfortable with their energy.
~ Me & Dolly ~

I love this life and love the learning and knowing that has unfolded as I look back. Now I look ahead learning to be comfortable in my "crone years" and will continue to be true to me. I will continue to observe people but will not let the outside world change me...dragging me into the old dried up junk the others still drag their own feet through.

Quaint Nantucket in Autumn

I love Nantucket Island!
I've been there 3 times by ferry - a 3 hour trip one way! It's long so make the most of it.
I loved the main street with all the quaint shops all having white windows and doors.
If I could do it all over, I'd live there.

Rick Nelson Never Be Anyone Else But You Live 1983

As long as they keep playing the Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup commercial using this song, it keeps playing in my head and so here it is...again!
I'm not complaining.  :)

Today's Post - Nov. 12th

Pretty Floral Pics
How curious are these perfume or potion bottles?
Might this collection belong to a crone?
Wouldn't it be fun to be the age of the Crone
and create potions and scented oils all day long?
Oh, why that would be ME!  :)

This Blog Is My New Facebook - Nov. 10th -Today's Posts

I had so much trouble logging into Facebook yesterday that I am now using this blog as my Facebook. I have a daily ritual going through my favorite pages and posting and sharing posts that are beautiful, pretty, cute, and relevant. They include animals, flowers, landscapes, art, and more. Feel free to comment, if you like, that this will act like FB. I already know I'll feel better not dealing with the disruption there. Here I feel free and more at peace. Have a peaceful day, all, and enjoy!

Love this...
Cuteness...
It used to be that opposites attract -
Now it's Like Attracts Like.
I post a lot of the very wise,
Princess Sassy Pants,
usually with the company of her, "Pup."
We love Princess Sassy Pants
I agree - especially these days.
Each day will be a lesson
and then life will get better
and all will be as it should be.
See you next time. :)

Joseph R. Biden Jr. Elected 46th President

Congratulations to Joe Biden & Kamala Harris!
Tears of joy knowing we are holding on to our Democracy which was clearly in jeopardy under a dictator!  Now we will regain and help our allies and have a leader who speaks the truth. A president who is a true American and believes in our Constitution which is, "of the people, for the people, and by the people."   AMEN.

Bunny & Pretty Red Bird

Pretty Red Bird is hiding behind the birdbath but wanting his turn at the bowl of food where Bunny is eating! :)
Pretty Red Bird sitting alone on the bowl of food! :)
Getting Closer!
Pretty Red Bird & Bunny sharing breakfast? :)

Just a note:
We have been feeding the birds and squirrels and any "wild one" that passes through our yard or wants to live nearby and is looking for food.
The cardinals, affectionately called Pretty Red Bird, and the female, Mrs. Pretty Red Bird, have been living in the bushes where the birdbath is for years! Obviously we know they are cardinals, but we find joy in giving names to the different "wild ones" that eat here almost every day. We have jays, squirrels, one we call, "Little Red Squirrel," wild turkeys, chipmunks, and a groundhog we call, "Thing." :) I also fed a stray cat, Tabby Cat," for 4 years who unfortunately also caught a bird now and then which saddened me every time. He's gone now, struck by a car - he wasn't friendly enough for me to bring inside and so we have no cats around now.

Pretty Red bird likes to eat alone or with his mate...they also come around to the back deck table to eat there, too. My husband seems to enjoy taking pictures of the Birds & Bunny (and the others) so I like to post them here and on FB.

Just an ordinary day at home...enjoy!
